UK unprepared for surge in electric car use, thinktank warns    Green Alliance says simultaneous charging could potentially damage electronic equipment unless action is taken by 2020.- Adam Vaughan. The UK’s energy networks are not ready for a surge in electric cars and solar panels that is coming within the next few years, according to a report. Clusters of the battery powered cars could result in 1% of the UK experiencing unplanned drops in voltage – potentially damaging electronic equipment – without action by 2020, the Green Alliance said. The thinktank warned that as few as six electric vehicles located near one another, most likely in an affluent neighbourhood, could lead to such “brownouts”. Charging one car requires a similar amount of electricity as a typical home uses in three days, and simultaneous demand at a local level could damage networks without costly reinforcements. HOW FRANCE DISGRACEFULLY TRUMPIFIED ITS POLITICS       This sort of presidential campaign is, by now, pretty familiar to American audiences. But for France, which has long considered itself, in Karl Marx’s famous phrase, the “fatherland of politics,” it represents a complete and radical change.   Former prime  minister François Fillon represents the right. But by the time the voting takes place, nothing, or pretty much nothing, of importance will have been discussed during the campaign. This is the first time in the history of a French national election that mod...

The images of submarine-launched missiles being pulled by vehicles made by Chinese company Sinotruk at Saturday’s parade revealed the difficulty in enforcing strict UN sanctions on the reclusive state. About 80 percent of North Korean overseas trade - including essential food and fuel products – is with China, a signatory of sanctions which ban the export largely of goods which Pyongyang could use to build up its military. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang ...
